Sorry for the silence

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 14, 2013, 1:50 PM

Sorry for my general absence, I'm kinda in the middle of my exams, and not only do I have to revise and do them, but my Nazi-stringent parents are really restricting the time I have to just relax.

Free time? Turn that time into revision time. Taking a nap? Wake the fuck up and do a paper. This is how every day pans out, if I don't have an exam that day (but even then, sometimes they'll subject me to more work after I've done an exam).

So naturally, when I do have time to myself (the little amount I get), the last thing I want to do is draw or think of a comment to write on someone's work. I mean, in ways I've already bound myself to the obligation of commenting on all the art I get in my deviantWATCH messages, but I really don't want to do it... My head just hurts too much to think of anything substantial.

But I'll get around to it eventually. I know some probably don't care that I haven't been on that much, and I wouldn't blame you: Place that worry on something more worthwhile than just one guy who's gone missing for a few days.
Those that do care, he's your explanation, and I'll give you the comments I promised you.

Again, sorry.

Silence... Will fall.

Oh! Don't spend so much time commenting on other people's work, even if it's "just" the stuff in your DA inbox! :-( You'll never be able to grow as an artist if you're sitting at the computer typing all the time instead of drawing. It's ok to leave comments and help others by giving them feedback. But, you're going to have to take the feedback you get and seriously work on your artwork too. Especially if the rest of your free time is eaten up by everything else in life.

Listen, I had this REALLY bad habit of responding to every single comment/review/message/etc. Giving Thanks for every fav, watch, llama, and what have you. It was easy at first because I didn't get that many. But, it still took up considerable amounts of time. .... and then I started making some stamps for the fun of it and that was ALL IT TOOK for me.

Inbox flooded with Favs, Comments, Watches, etc. If I tried to respond to everything, let alone comment on the art of all the artists/groups I watch. My career would consist of DeviantArt and not ... Art.

Do yourself a favor. Pick the art from your inbox that you feel you can give some true insight on and comment on those pieces. Fav the ones you like (leave a mini comment on why you like it if you must) and then delete the rest of the items in your inbox. Then focus on the most important thing. Which is your artwork.

I'm in Sixth Form, which (after doing some Google searching) is the somewhat British equivalent of Senior year in American high school.

And thank you for the words of encouragement =D
